How do I choose the right pillow for me?

Choosing the right pillow can be a difficult task. Most sleepers want to find the right pillow that will work with their sleeping position, the mattress's firmness, and that will provide the right amount of support and comfort to keep your neck and spine in proper alignment while they sleep.

Most sleepers will have a primary sleeping position and that tends to influence the type of pillow they pick. We recommend trying out as many pillows as it takes to find the one that works best for you, but here are a few guidelines to help in your search.
Side Sleepers tend to look for a firmer pillow. Having a pillow with too soft a fill often causes your head to sink down too much, and creates added pressure on your neck. Firmer foam pillows or a firm-filled pillow tends to lift the side sleeper's head enough to align it properly with your neck and spine and avoid a stiff neck. Generally speaking, the firmer the mattress, the higher the loft you will need.
Back Sleepers are usually sleeping on a firmer mattress, so you will usually want to avoid a pillow that is too high. Most back sleepers can sleep comfortably on a softer or medium-firm pillow. This provides enough support for the neck, but won’t lift you so high that your back is no longer aligned with the mattress. Usually a down or down alternative pillow or a softer foam or foam cluster pillow will provide exactly what a back sleeper needs to be comfortable throughout the night.
Stomach Sleepers usually like a pillow that is on the softer side and can be compressed. Just the back sleepers, and stomach sleepers want to avoid being lifted too high to avoid your neck being raised throughout the night. Typically, low loft down or down alternative pillows will provide the perfect loft with just enough compression to keep stomach sleepers comfy throughout the night.
