What are Serta foundation/base requirements?

Serta mattresses and foundations are often times sold as a set because they are designed to pair together, and we can confirm their compatibility during quality tests. However, you are not required to use a Serta foundation with your Serta mattress.

As long as the foundation you're using is in good shape and uses consistent support it should pair just fine with your Serta mattress. Examples would be an adjustable base, solid platform, or slatted frame. When using a slatted frame, we recommend that the slats are no further than 2" apart. Please reference our warranty information HERE for further frame/base requirements. Inadequate support can damage your mattress and void warranty coverage.

Of course, we understand that some frames come with slats that are further apart than two inches. In these cases, we recommend adding a solid platform on top of any open-slatted mattress support system. Any sort of finished wood placed between the mattress and the slatted platform, supporting the entire surface of the mattress, will provide appropriate support.

If using an adjustable base, we just recommend keeping the bed in the flat position when not in use.
