What mattress firmness should I buy?

Firmness is something that is going to be a bit subjective from person to person. We do have a few guidelines that can help you to find the best fit for your needs. We recommend thinking about what you are looking for in a mattress first, and where your problem areas are. It tends to be easier to point in the direction of what model may work best from there.

The easiest way to narrow down what you are looking for is to dive into what kind of sleeping position you prefer.

Stomach sleepers tend to benefit from an overall firmer feel. Usually trying to avoid a pillow top model, and searching for a mattress that is going to be on the Firm or Extra Firm side will help with the support the stomach sleepers need, and will not be too soft. We usually recommend not selecting a model that is softer than a medium feel, as that tends to be too soft for this type of sleeper.

Back sleepers tend to benefit from a Firm to a Medium feel mattress. These mattresses provide enough support to keep your neck and back aligned and offer enough pressure relief to help cradle those critical pressure points.

Side sleepers usually find themselves looking into a Medium or Plush feeling mattress. Often, side sleepers will look at a Pillow Top model to add an extra bit of softness to the mattress's comfort level. Side sleepers have critical pressure points on the hip and shoulder area that often require a bit more pressure relief than comes from a Medium mattress or softer.

These guidelines tend to narrow down the search a little bit, but each person is different and will have different needs.
